American Forces Press Service

Aug. 4, 2008 - Coalition and Afghan forces killed enemy fighters, detained six suspects and found weapons during recent operations in Afghanistan,
military officials said. In operations yesterday, coalition forces were searching areas in Ghazni province's Waghez district when they came under attack by small-arms and mortar fire. Coalition forces repelled the attack, killing an unspecified number of enemy fighters, officials said.

Afghan and coalition forces detained four suspected
terrorists and discovered bomb-making materials in Khowst province. The individuals reportedly are linked to a bomb-facilitation network responsible for numerous attacks in the province's Sabari district, officials said.

In operations Aug. 2, coalition forces killed one enemy fighter and detained two more in Ghazni province. The individuals reportedly are responsible for bombings and mortar attacks against Afghan and coalition troops, officials said.
